An Easy Way to Stop Computer Errors

Computer errors are extremely annoying, preventing you from being able to do a variety of things on your computer without having the constant threat of a computer crash / error ruining it all. This is a big problem for gamers and people who a lot of work on their computers (like me) but is actually pretty easy to fix...

Although they stop your programs from running and make you lost unsaved work & games, computer errors are actually harmless to your computer. The errors themselves are simply messages from your computer, telling you that something is wrong and you need to fix it, because Windows can't. Errors come in all shapes and sizes, and can spring up for an unlimited amount of reasons, but there's one part of your computer which causes 99% of them. And if you can fix this part of your computer, you will actually be able to stop almost all the errors n your PC.

Most computer errors are actually caused by a part of your system called the 'registry'. This is the central database for Windows which stores all the settings and options for your computer, allowing it to "remember" many different things when it turns off and back on again. It's a very important database which acts as the command center for your system, allowing it to run many different applications with a variety of different settings.

The problem with this database is that since it's being used so much, Windows often gets confused and saves parts of it wrong. This means that the next time Windows needs to use it, your computer ends up taking a lot longer to try and decipher what the file is trying to say. This slows your computer down a little, but if your computer can't read the files it needs, it actually raises errors telling you to fix them. And because the registry database is so huge, thousands of different errors can be created there.

Luckily, there's an easy way to fix this problem. You just need to use a program called a 'registry cleaner' which scans through every registry file and fixes all the problematic ones that it finds. It's surprising how much better your computer runs after using one of these tools, because they are really easy to use. You just need to download them, install them and then click on "Scan Now" to make them remove all the errors from your PC.

Using a registry cleaner will actually remove most of the errors on your PC. Especially if you use a good cleaner such as RegAce.

Tales From the Big Durian

The Durian is a contentious fruit; loved by many whilst others are disgusted by its strong smell, and strange appearance. Jakarta, one of South-east Asia's largest and least known Cities, is aptly nicknamed the "Big Durian." Tales from the Big Durian, is a collection of true stories and experiences, that cross lines of "normality," and takes readers in the surreal life of a mega-city torn between western modernization, and traditional beliefs.

The book starts with a short story about the differences in cultural beliefs, were locals prefer skin whitening creams to exposing themselves in the hot, tropical Indonesian sun. It leads onto a collection of bizarre, and funny tales were expatriates and locals mix, leading to a chaotic mix of misunderstandings, that end up as confusing as they first started.

As you travel through a growing ultra-modern City to the crumbling tenements, and shacks of the poor. Where a society lives on the edge of earthquakes, and floods, whilst millions of people somehow find a way to make a living.

Onto the streets of this teeming City, were luxurious Shopping Malls collide with street hawkers selling everything imaginable, and Porsches battle with the most dangerous buses in East Asia, for space on Jakarta's gridlocked roads.

Stories are often "human" stories; the anonymous street food seller outside a western-style bar, or the residents of a crumbling apartment block, that has a reputation of being haunted. People who exist but often are the nameless characters that make the City of Jakarta, so interesting.

Each page Invites you to a very real World, you can experience first hand by flipping through an assortment of stories, which either confuse, bring joy or plain old disgust.

Welcome to the surreal, and yet very real World of the "Big Durian."

"Tales from the Big Durian," is available in ebook form, through Fultus Books..

iPhone Data Recovery Advice

Your iPhone is capable of storing a large amount of different kinds of data - apps, pictures, videos, sound clips, documents and even emails. Though the small device packs a powerful punch, it's still very susceptible to physical damage and lost data. If you're in the unfortunate situation where you lost data on your iPhone, read on for some helpful tips on how to get it back!

There are two ways to go about recovering lost iPhone data: the do-it-yourself software recovery method and the spend lots of money and hire a profession option. If you're still able to connect to your iPhone, the first thing you need to do is scan your system and get an overview of what files you have. I recommend using a program called recover4All Pro v2.26. Last time I checked it's free and available for download online. The full scan could take up to 3 hours, so you will probably just want to connect the iPhone to your computer, load up the software, and let it do its thing.

After the scan is complete, sync up to iTunes and click the 'summary' tab; then click 'restore'. This will prompt a message asking you if you'd like to restore your previous settings, to which you should answer 'yes'. Your iTunes will then put all the files back onto your iPhone that were saved last time you synced up. This is certainly the easy way out; if your phone is damaged and you're unable to connect, you've got a bigger problem.

My first recommendation with a damaged iPhone is to take it to your nearest Apple store. Talk to the techs there and see if they can help you recover your data for free. This is a hit or miss situation in my experience; sometimes they can help and sometimes they can't do anything. If they can help you for free, you're in luck. If not, you'll have to search for a professional data recovery services company, which may cost you hundreds of dollars when it's all said and done.

Data Recovery - What is a Clean Room?

Clean rooms are most popularly known in the data recovery and Information Technology industry for its extremely stringent codes for building sensitive hardware components like hard drives. The goal of clean rooms is to control two environmental variables to allow the design, development, and construction of mechanical materials that can be detrimentally impacted by certain elements.

The two main variables a clean room attempts to control are the temperature in the room and the density of small particles per cubic meter. The most prominent need for a clean room is for the data recovery industry that needs an extremely low amount of dust particles in the room for the construction of hard drive platters. Even the smallest amount of dust particles can affect the efficiency of a hard drive causing data loss and an increased chance of hardware failure. Clean rooms are also used in the development and construction of microchips and pharmaceuticals. Additionally, the highest concentration of clean rooms in the world is in Silicon Valley, California because of all the Information Technology firms located in the area.

The idea and development of the first clean room was done in the early 1960's. The idea was to create an area for engineers and scientists to work in a room with low particles that could ruin experiments. Willis Whitfield from Sandia Laboratories developed the idea of ventilation that created a unidirectional or laminar flow air supply. Unidirectional air supply introduces new air into the room and subsequently sucks it out at the opposite end eliminating harmful dust particles that contaminate experiments and other mechanical construction. The design of the room creates a significant decrease in particles that ultimately leaves a clean room with lower microbes and particles that are less than typical environmental factors.

HEPA filters are also common in clean rooms. HEPA filters are newer than the concept of a clean room from the 1960's, so it has enhanced the reduction in dust in rooms for current technology. HEPA filters are commonly used in vacuums and air cleaners for people who have severe allergies to dust particles. HEPA filters are small filters that are placed in areas that move air, like the systems that push and pull air in a clean room. The HEPA filter has tiny perforations that trap dust and microbe particles keeping them out of the filtered air. It gives clean rooms an additional way to filter out harmful particles similar to how a water filter removes bacterium and other harmful particles.

Although clean rooms are not used by the average person in the information technology world, they are an important method in creating hard drives and performing data recovery. These clean rooms give companies a way to develop hardware without the troublesome dust particles that threaten to ruin hardware. Although you may not know the significance of a clean room, the use of a clean room is the major fundamental aspect of a pure computer system.

Buy Domains

Domain names are simply an address to your business. People who want to find you can get to you by typing in your domain name into their web browser. The way you name your domain name is very important. For example, if your company name is Burts Cabinets, try and find a domain that says burtscabinets.com. Try to stay away from .net or .org's as these are not as popular and most people automatically think a .com follows. Often the exact domain will be taken that you want, but you can modify it. For example, burtscabinetsdeals.com might be available is burtscabinets.com is taken. It is VERY important to have the name somewhere in the domain even if you have to add a word in front of or behind the main keyword or name.

But who should you use? First of all know what you need. What i mean by this is do you need a host to host your actual website or are you hosting your own website on your own server. If you are hosting your own server what kind of internet connection do you have? Are you using qwest, comcast, or satellite Internet?

If you are planning on hosting your own website with your own server, you need to be very careful of who you pay to host your domain name. The reason for this is that unless you have a static ip address, which most Internet providers to not give out without charging you extra, your IP address is dynamic and changes sometimes a couple times a day. Namecheap has a dynamic DNS option which will automatically update your domain name with the ip of your sever so you can ensure up time. If your ip address changes and your domain host is not notified your website will not be live. Godaddy for example does NOT have a dynamic DNS setting. Make sure if you are hosting your own website to use a company that offers a dynamic DNS setting.
